Eleventh-ranked Parkland broke a sixth-inning tie and pulled away late to beat the Carl Sandburg College baseball team 9-3 in a nine-inning game Wednesday afternoon.

After the Chargers (2-13) tied the game at 2 in the fifth on an Austin Collinson (Normal, Ill./Normal West) single, a Wynn Takacs (Tipton, Ind./Taylor) walk and a run-scoring error, the Cobras went back ahead with a three-run sixth thanks to a single, a triple, a walk and a hit batsman.
Sandburg Standout
Sandburg starter Cam Scott (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs) pitched well despite being saddled with the loss. The freshman allowed four earned runs on five hits and three walks in six innings of work. He also fanned five batters.
